All the way from France … it’s Phoenix
Tuesday, March 10th, 2009 | musiX
Confession: Sometimes when I read about the same band on multiple blogs—endless prattle with the same comparisons, just arranged differently—I tend to be a little skeptical because … well, to be quite frank, a lot of the time it sucks. I’ve been reading about the upcoming—very anticipated—release from French rock quartet Phoenix. I listened and … OK, I give … now I write.
Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix won’t be out until May 25, but the band wasted no time releasing the first single “1901″—a slick electro-pop number that walks a fine line between being too smart for the masses and catchy enough to find its way on to an episode of My Super Sweet 16. And I like it … which means I may be walking a fine line myself.
“1901″ - Phoenix
