Dungen släpper en ny låt

I’m not ready to come back to America just yet. So, we travel from France to Sweden to check in with Dungen.

The first time I heard 2004’s Ta Det Lugnt I thought I had unearthed some lost psychedelic relic—the warm and crackly guitars, the loose, jazz-influenced drums, the acoustic strums and occasional flute—all played by multi-instrumentalist Gustav Ejstes. Ejstes has since formed a full band, and has released a couple more terrific records.

Dungen is set to release their fifth album, Skit/Allt in September on Mexican Summer (they’ll play Mississippi Studios in Portland on October 1). “Marken Låg Stilla” is the first single, a breezy, piano-driven song that I am certain is the calm before the storm. Expect the new record to be loaded with lots of hot, sexy psychedelic action, hot guitars, and hot, rumbling Keith Moon-esque drumming. And expect not to understand a word Gustav Ejstes says … unless, of course, you’re from Sweden or were one of those weirdos who studied Swedish while the rest of us were conjugating -AR verbs.
