The Kissaway Trail
TDoL is hot on The Kissaway Trail

Denmark’s The Kissaway Trail hasn’t released any new material since their 2007 debut. I don’t know about you, but two years seems like an eternity. The band melted my ears with a ridiculously awesome-titled song called “Smother + Evil = Hurt” and then disappeared … mathematically it would look something like this: disappear + me = hurt.
The five-piece is set to release their new record Sleep Mountain on April 6 (Bella Union), and with it comes the first single “SDP,” a six-minute piece of stunning arena-ready (?!) indie rock that’s both lush and raw, epic and sincere. The Kissaway Trail has been working on the record at various sexy European locales—Denmark, France, Sweden—and has enlisted the help of Peter Katis, who’s produced records for Interpol and The National. It’s the band’s first official U.S. release, and if “SDP” is any indication it should go something like: The Kissaway Trail + Sleep Mountain = arenas in 2010. Mind you math was my worst subject in school—don’t hold me to it.
